David Fifita ‘can’t believe’ Wakefield let player leave

David Fifita has become a great character for Wakefield Trinity since joining back in 2016.

And, if there was one thing he is not afraid to come out with, it’s the fact that he loves banter with opposition fans.

It’s an action that Fifita thrives on and he also loves to give it back, realising that he is only getting the attention due to doing something good on the field.

“I love ‘you fat b*stard’, I thrive on it,” Fifita told the RL Review podcast.

“I don’t have a problem, it makes me feel like I’m doing something good on the field – if they call you fat you rub your belly and laugh.”

The ‘Big Bopper’ – as he has become so warmly known – also had his say on Wakefield’s retention and recruitment, citing one player should not be leaving.

“I had a great bond with Kyle Wood, I still can’t believe we let him go.

“He’s made me shine a lot more than if he wasn’t here – he makes me look good!

“I’m hoping Liam Hood brings the same energy and I hope I can create the same bond with him next season.”

Wood left Wakefield to join Halifax Panthers in the Championship, whilst Hood joins from Leigh Centurions.
