Daryl Powell reveals why Warrington Wolves beat Catalans Dragons

Warrington Wolves put a spanner in the works of Catalans Dragons’ attempts to reach the top two of the Super League with a big 36-10 win over the French side.

Daryl Powell’s men were in superb form, led by Stefan Ratchford and George Williams, as debutant Matty Nicholson impressed in the green and white strip of Warrington.

For Catalans, it was a case of must try harder as they were second best throughout, but Powell was very happy with how his side performed in taking the two points back to the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The former Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos boss revealed just how important the win was for the Cheshire club.

“We’ve been under a fair bit of pressure so it was a really important game for us,” Powell said.

“It was a really honest performance and I thought it was class – it was great to go away to the fans and smile.”

Powell also wants his players to look up the Super League table rather than down.

“That was a lot more like it, I want to start looking up and have a real crack at the six and I think it was the best, defensively we worked so hard.

“That’s a big win for us is that.”
