Daryl Powell reveals talks with Warrington Wolves Chief Executive

Warrington Wolves started the season with a run of eight wins in a row but after their defeat to Leeds Rhinos with questions being raised of Daryl Powell.

The Wolves have only won three of their last nine games losing to the likes of Hull FC, Wigan Warriors and 11th placed Castleford Tigers.

Their Challenge Cup run has come to a halt as well ending their Wembley dreams.

Questions are now being raised of Powell especially after the Wolves finished 11th in his first season.

A recent news story has added to the pressure on Daryl Powell. This is the news that former St Helens coach Justin Holbrook is available.

Holbrook delivered the 2019 Grand Final trophy to Saints and started their dynasty.

He was let go of by Gold Coast Titans recently and has been linked with Warrington as well as Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos.

When this was put to Powell, he revealed that he has the club’s backing:

“Karl Fitzpatrick and I talk all the time – we were talking this week about recruitment, but he probably wouldn’t be talking to me if that was the case.

“We have to keep level heads and keep ourselves focused on what we’re trying to do.

“Our squad at the moment is not massive and we’re trying to tidy that up, but there’s nothing of that regard at all.”
