Daryl Powell was in high spirits following Castleford’s 37-30 comeback victory over Salford.

In a try fest at Headingley, the Tigers recovered from a shocking first 13 minutes to record their first Super League win since the restart.

“It was mad. The whole thing,” said Powell. “We end up 18-0 down and did some of the damage ourselves.

“But then I thought it was incredible the way we fought back and end up winning a really tight, tense, end-to-end game.

“There are a lot of things for us to improve on but we needed to win and it was really important for us.”

There are more positives for Castleford with Powell revealing that a host of injured players are set to return, while also providing an update on hooker Paul McShane after he pulled up late in the match.

He said: “I think Paul McShane just cramped up. I do not think there is anything major. He seems to be okay.

“I was just talking to him afterwards. He was back to his best tonight which was really pleasing.

“Daniel Smith pulled his pec last week in his comeback. I am not sure how long he will be out for but he will not be available anytime soon.

“As for players coming back, Cheyse Blair and Sosaia Feki are not far off but I am not getting held up by that anymore.

“James Clare should be okay next week. I would say Jacob Trueman should be back next Thursday so we would potentially have a few players set to return.”
