Daryl Powell names former Castleford Tigers man in different position as centre is surprise inclusion on the bench

Daryl Powell has named his team for his return to the Jungle as he looks to build on the brilliant win the Wolves picked up at the Magic Weekend.

Last week the Wolves battered the high flying Catalans Dragons to kickstart their season and give themselves a faint whiff of play-off rugby which looked set to allude them whilst Castleford were hit by a second half blitz from Leeds at the Magic Weekend.

As he looks to build on that momentum, Powell has kept much of the team the same except Oliver Holmes has been promoted into the starting 13 from the bench after being amongst the subs in Newcastle.

Also his return to the Jungle he intriguingly moves to loose-forward as Jason Clark drops to the bench. Usually most effective running wide as a second-row, it’ll be interesting how Holmes does doing the hard work in the middle of the field.

Fellow former Tiger Peter Mata’utia is unsurprisingly kept at centre. Stefan Ratchford returns to his fullback role to allow Riley Dean to start in the halves with George Williams as Dean’s spot on the bench goes to Connor Wrench and not Danny Walker as expected.

Wrench is a centre and there’s not usually much call for them on the bench so it’ll be interesting to see how he’s used.

It means both sides have an outside back on the bench with Jason Qareqare amongst the subs for Castleford.

Jake Wardle starts in the centres for the third time and Matty Nicholson plays his second game for the Wolves at second-row.
