Daryl Powell makes surprise decision on star player following NRL rumours

League leaders Warrington Wolves have named their squad for Saturday’s clash with Hull FC.

Daryl Clark will miss out with a knee injury; however, the Wolves will be boosted by the return of Josh Drinkwater after a thigh strain and Josh Thewlis who was ruled out of the Tigers clash under concussion protocols.

Away from the treatment table, Sam Kasiano will sit out after picking up a one game ban during that emphatic win at Castleford.

Meanwhile, Thomas Mikaele is named in the squad for potentially the last time as rumours swirl that he could be headed for the Gold Coast Titans soon due to home sickness according to Wide World of Sports’ Mole.

Warrington Wolves 21-man squad: Matty Ashton, Ben Currie, Josh Drinkwater, Gil Dudson, Matt Dufty, Lucas Green, Leon Hayes, Peter Mata’utia, Tom Mikaele, Greg Minikin, Matty Nicholson, Joe Philbin, Stefan Ratchford, Jamie Reddecliff, Matty Russell, Josh Thewlis, Luke Thomas, Paul Vaughan, Danny Walker, Tom Whitehead, George Williams.

Tony Smith has now named his 21-man squad for this Super League Round 7 clash against the Wolves.

Smith having made two changes to the squad that was named ahead of last week’s match against Leigh Leopards.

Ligi Sao misses out as he serves his one-match suspension, while Cam Scott also drops out having failed his head injury assessment during last week’s match.

The pair are replaced by Jordan Lane, and Nick Staveley who has spent the last month on dual-registration with Newcastle Thunder.

Ben McNamara and Jake Trueman remain unavailable through injury.

This will likely see Joe Lovodua remain in the halves.

It will be interesting to see if Danny Houghton, Darnell McIntosh and Kane Evans feature after being left out last week in the defeat to Leigh where Hull fell 16-0 down earlier on and went on to lose 24-16 despite a comeback.
