Daryl Powell has his say on Josh McGuire saga

Earlier this week Warrington Wolves confirmed the departure of Josh McGuire but mutual consent after the forward was banned for 12 games for something he allegedly said to Leigh Leopards star Josh Charnley.

Following this news, Warrington boss Daryl Powell had his say on the situation.

“I don’t want to go into that too much. The water is under the bridge, it is what it is,” he said on Wire TV.

“We wanted him to come over here and be a huge part of what we were going to do. That hasn’t materialised for different reasons that everyone knows.

“I am disappointed it came to this. It leaves us really light in the middle unit and that has an impact on everyone else which is a further disappointment for us.”

Following his departure the club are looking for new recruits to offset his departure and that of Thomas Mikaele:

“We have got two quota spots so we are looking, we’re looking all the time but we don’t want to make a rash decision.

“We’ve got Lucas Green who has come into the team and done a decent job as a young player coming through so I’m keen to give those guys more opportunities.

“They have got to hold their own in there and Lucas has done well. He’s done a pretty good job but we are looking pretty hard at the moment.”
