Wakefield Trinity have continued their aggressive squad planning for the 2027 Super League season with the capture of Leeds Rhinos outside-back Ned McCormack on a three-year contract.
The 21-year-old, a former junior England rugby union international who crossed codes to join the 13-a-side game, has put pen to paper on a deal that ties him to the DIY Kitchens Stadium until the end of the 2029 campaign.
While first-team opportunities at Headingley have been limited following an injury-disrupted start to his professional career, McCormack arrives in West Yorkshire as a high-potential prospect.
Trinity head coach Daryl Powell revealed that the club has tracked the youngster’s progression closely over past seasons.

“We are delighted to sign Ned. He’s a talented young outside back with great footwork and speed,” Powell said.
“I’ve been tracking him since he was on loan at Halifax when we were in the Championship. I feel like he’s got a big future and will be an awesome signing to continue our focus on further development of young players for the future.”
Director of Rugby Ste Mills echoed those sentiments, highlighting that McCormack will add a sharp edge to the club’s backline while providing vital utility cover across multiple positions.
He steps into an increasingly competitive outside-back department at Belle Vue. McCormack will fight for a starting spot alongside high-profile additions like cross-code New Zealand star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and fellow new arrival Davy Litten, as well as established talents such as Tom Johnstone, Corey Hall, Oliver Pratt, and Jayden Myers.

As Wakefield looks to cement its status as a rising force in the Super League, McCormack becomes Trinity’s latest addition as the club continues to shape its squad options ahead of the 2027 season.
