Daryl Clark reacts to Warrington Wolves’ defeat to Catalans Dragons

Warrington Wolves were defeated last night by a rampant Catalans Dragons side, 24-18.

The Dragons were leading 24-6 up until the last five minutes when the hosts managed to scramble for two tries to threaten an incredible comeback, but the French side held on mightily well for a vital two points.

Warrington, meanwhile, looked lacklustre in attack and were penetrated too easily in defence, with hooker Daryl Clark reacting to the loss on social media in what was his 300th career game.

Clark tweeted: “300 career games in the bank disappointed we couldn’t get the result our performance was way off but we’ve got a massive week ahead to get ready for a in form saints team on Friday night.”

Warrington head coach Daryl Powell wasn’t happy to say the least about the defeat, either.

“It was really poor, but I thought Catalans turned up with a great attitude with a lot of people missing and they were too good for us today,” Powell said live on Sky Sports after the game.

‘We’ve got a fair job to do to turn ourselves around quickly – I thought we started to play more a bit towards the end in the second-half, but we were nowhere near good enough.”

Powell was quick to point out that Warrington haven’t been too good since the season started.

“Catalans beat us at pretty much everything, I think we got wha we deserved and I think it’s been coming if I’m being honest.

“I thought we got dominated, they carried the ball harder than us and defended harder than us.

“We’ve got a fair bit to investigate and we need to change our mentality a little bit.”
