Danny Richardson takes major step forward for Castleford Tigers

Danny Richardson (7) of Castleford Tigers and Oliver Holmes (11) of Castleford Tigers shake hands after Castleford beat Leeds 18-32

There was a piece of bad news that hit Castleford Tigers after round one when it was revealed that halfback Danny Richardson was in a neck brace.

The number 7 suffered a neck injury in Castleford’s 26-16 loss to Salford Red Devils and head coach Lee Radford confirmed that Richardson had suffered a fractured neck.

Radford added: “It happened in the second half and it was a poor tackle technique.

“He copped one when he put his head in the wrong place which happens in this sport, unfortunately.”

The Castleford boss then gave an awful prognosis for the halfback.

However, Richardson has now posted a photo of him back training and all smiles on Twitter, with the caption: “Back on the field.”

The Tigers take on newly-promoted side Toulouse Olympique tomorrow night with both sides locked on two points on the Super League table.

Castleford will be without Daniel Smith following his injury in the victory over Leeds Rhinos the week before.
