Danny Richardson has his say on reports linking him away from Castleford

Doing the rounds recently has been the rumour that Castleford’s Danny Richardson will be leaving at the end of the season.

Leigh is reportedly his destination, but Richardson himself refuted the rumours, outlining that he will be a Tigers player in 2022.

“I’ve spoke to Radders (incoming Castleford head coach Lee Radford) and I’m a Castleford player next year,” Richardson said.

“We had a brief chat and I’ve seen a couple of things going around social media, but unless there’s something happening that I’m not aware of, I’m a Castleford player next year.”

Current Tigers head coach Daryl Powell says he has been critical of the English halfback in the past, but that he is impressing in recent weeks.

“Danny has been through a tough period and he’s come out of the other side,” Powell said.

“We had a chat and I said just enjoy yourself – I’ve been at him a little bit and getting him to try and improve parts of his game but I’m pleased to see he’s playing with a bit about him.”
