Last night, Hull KR’s season took a gigantic step towards success as they defeated Warrington Wolves.
Since interim boss Danny McGuire took over, things have drastically turned around at Craven Park. Despite a gutting derby defeat at the Magic Weekend in controversial fashion, Hull KR have bounced back with hard fought wins over Wakefield and Warrington in their last two to leap frog their rivals Hull FC into the play-offs as McGuire looks to emulate what former boss Tony Smith achieved last year as they secured their second highest in Super League history.
The win last night was particularly special as the Robins came back from 22-12 down to win 30-22 with three late tries and moved them into sixth spot.
After the game on Hull KR TV, McGuire reflected on the win and credited the fans for the role they played: “The feeling after is up there with anything I’ve felt before but probably a bit different.
“I’m more pleased for the lads really. I’ve been at the club for a while and I really feel like part of the furniture.
“I got all the players to go in front of the fans because I feel like that’s important. It’s tough times at the minute and we’ve got a decent following here on a Friday night but yeah really pleased for everyone involved.
“It was a special moment. We ground out a performance against a good team and I’m really proud of their efforts.”
