Covid-19 set to spoil State of Origin decider

It feels like Covid-19 is firmly behind us especially as a sport.
Whereas a year ago Super League games were still being postponed due to positive tests in teams, thankfully this season hasn’t been sullied by these problems and in general the pandemic seems to be in our rear-view-mirror.
However, that’s not the cause in Australia where the virus is set to spoil the biggest game of the season down under.
With one win a piece, New South Wales and Queensland are set to head into the State of Origin decider knowing that a win for either side will secure the title for 2022 and the bragging rights which come with it.
Although the Blues seem the stronger especially after their huge win over the Maroons last time out, Queensland could have been considered to have the edge with their home advantage and New South Wales’ poor history in Brisbane.
However, New South Wales are now firm favourites with the news coming out today that Queensland have been hit with Covid.
WA Today are reporting that two Maroons players will miss the decider with rookie winger Murray Taulagi testing positive and key player and chief New South Wales tormenter Cameron Munster also testing positive in the biggest blow the Maroons could suffer at this stage.
The two have been sent for PCR tests to confirm the positive tests.
Corey Oates and North Queensland stand-off Tom Dearden have come into the camp.
