Coventry Bears have completed the signing of halfback Fiach Millward on a deal for the 2020 season.
Millward is an Ireland U19s player and recently came over to England to study at the University of Gloucestershire.
The halfback was spotted by the Head Coach of the University Ben Whincup. Whincup is also a performance analyst for the League One side.
He previously played for Irish community clubs Barrowcudas and Athy Sharks in County Carlow.
Millward told the club website: “I am very grateful for the opportunity that Coventry Bears have given me and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in to pre-season.”
“I can’t wait to get some experience in League One with the Bears”.
Bears chairman Alan Robinson added: “He is a halfback and had some great attributes that stood out in our trial at the beginning of the month. He is a real prospect and is another Irish player who has come through RLI under 19’s.
“He is willing to learn and we feel he will fit in well to the environment so are looking forward to seeing how he develops and get more experience under his belt so he can put himself in a position to play regularly next season”
