Could Wigan Warriors man Jake Bibby move to Super League rivals?

If there is one player that goes under the radar for his Wigan Warriors side then it is Jake Bibby.

Played either on the wing or at centre – where he has found a home at the latter – Bibby has often been an unsung hero for the Lancashire club since joining from Salford Red Devils.

The 25-year-old made 79 appearances for the Red Devils after debuting in 2015 before leaving for Wigan ahead of the 2020 Super League season.

Bibby played in Wigan’s Grand Final defeat to St Helens that year, but has found a home in the left centre under Matt Peet in 2022.

That being said, he is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move away – most notably to the Huddersfield Giants where Ian Watson previously spoke of his admiration of Bibby.

“I’ve had Jake at Salford and he is off contract so we definitely have an interest in him,” Watson said.

“Time will tell I suppose if we can get him across the line, but I want Jake to join us, he made his debut under me at Salford.

The Huddersfield boss waxed lyrical about Bibby’s talent.

“There would be a lot of clubs having a look at him, he plays at a high level – an 8/10 in every game.

“And, in the semi-final against St Helens I thought he was the best centre on the field, but Wigan understand how valuable he is.”

Whether or not he joins Huddersfield remains to be seen, but Bibby would be a massive asset to any Super League side.
