Could Hull KR trio Albert Vete, Korbin Sims and Brad Takairangi join a Super League rival?

Hull KR are set to land three major signings ahead of the 2023 Super League season – with one of them already being confirmed.

That’s according to new Rovers boss Willie Peters who spoke with Newcastle Herald’s reporter Barry Toohey on his podcast about his move to the UK and who he will be taking with them.

Those three names will certainly be known in NRL circles, whilst two of them have been linked in recent weeks with a move to Craven Park.

“NRL veterans like Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Lachlan Coote are still going strong,” Peters told the Toohey’s News podcast.

“My plan isn’t to go over there and change everything up. I’m bringing three lads over with me to fill our spots and add to our development, Rhys Kennedy, Tom Opacic and Jesse Sue – they’ll add to what we are doing over there.

“With Jesse Sue, we have a guy called George King who’s a prop that does everything.

“So Jesse will help Kingy a lot and Rhys Kennedy hasn’t played a lot this year, but from what I saw from him last year, the Super League game will suit him.”

In bringing those three over, however, it means that three of their overseas players are set to leave as well.

With Kenny-Dowall and Coote under contract, it means Albert Vete, Korbin Sims and Brad Takairangi will be heading out of Craven Park.

So, could this trio join a rival Super League side?

Vete has impressed when he has taken to the field at Craven Park, but has struggled with injuries in his time at the club whilst Korbin Sims has been in and out form for Tony Smith’s side.

Meanwhile, it’s perhaps most likely that Brad Takairangi will go back home following his police incident earlier in the year.

Since succumbing to a bad injury, Takairangi has been linked with an exit with head coach Tony Smith confirming he could have played his last game a few weeks ago in a press conference.

That being said, Vete and Sims could be two good squad players to have if a Super League side wants to bolster their ranks.
