Could Hull FC stalwart Jamie Shaul move to another Super League club?

If you cut Jamie Shaul in two, he would bleed Black and White.

Unfortunately, the fullback has had his game time limited in recent years with the rise to prominence of maverick Jake Connor under Brett Hodgson.

In fact, that rise has been so prominent that Shaul was close to exiting the MKM Stadium in 2021 before agreeing to stay on in 2022.

However, he is now out of contract, and, with chances once more limited, it wouldn’t be surprising if he moved on at the end of the season.

Having said that, with Connor now out injured for three months, it gives Shaul a big opportunity to stake his claim for the number one jersey and prove to Hodgson that he is worthy of another contract.

If that contract fails to materialise then the best he can do is put himself in the shop window with some stellar performances, starting this weekend in the south of France against Catalans Dragons.

Having not played there for so long, the pressure will be on Shaul to deliver, but at 29 and with almost 200 appearances to his name at Hull, he has the experience necessary to get him through.

There has been no indication so far, though, that Hodgson is preparing to hand Shaul another contract which could leave the door open for a Super League rival or two to swoop in.
