Could Dan Sarginson be about to sign for this Super League club?

Wakefield could do with a signing or two after some key injuries such as the loss of fullback Max Jowitt and speaking to BBC Sport West Yorkshire today, coach Mark Applegarth confirmed that there could be a new signing announced in the next day or two.

He said:

“We’re looking at a couple, we should have an announcement in the next day or so but in terms of outside backs, we’re pretty lucky in the wing spots, we had four wingers to sort into two spots.

“Jorge Taufua, we have no dramas on the left wing. Elsewhere, we might bring in a body or two t create some competition for places.”

Asked if they will be signing a fullback, Applegarth spoke about the fact they inquired about Huddersfield Giants star Ash Golding:

“We inquired about a couple, Ian Watson spoke about Ash Golding, we made an inquiry but they just said he was part of their plans and I can see why.

“We’re looking and we’re speaking to a couple but Liam Kay did really well against Huddersfield and he is a winner.”

Could they perhaps consider Jake Mamo who according to Rugby League Live has requested a release from Castleford Tigers?

Perhaps.

Nonetheless, it won’t be Golding with Ian Watson saying yesterday:

“Ash is staying with us. He brings energy and life to our place, he’s not going anywhere. He can stay here and keep doing it for us.

“The one thing you love about Ash is that everyday he turns up with a smile on his face and he’s ready to go all the time. He’s a bundle of energy and he fits out team at the moment.

“When he came on against Warrington I thought he was lively. It doesn’t matter when you put him on he’s always full of energy and ready to run so he’s not going anywhere.”

Now though the news has been confirmed that Dan Sarginson has left the Salford Red Devils with immediate effect could it be to join Wakefield Trinity?

Time will tell.
