Controversy at St Helens as Leeds Rhinos feels harshly done by following Regan Grace try

Leeds Rhinos thought they had levelled against St Helens at the Totally Wicked Stadium tonight when they were down 12-6.

Sam Walters ran through onto a Blake Austin kick but was adjudged to have knocked on.

Saints ran up the other end and finished off a wonderful move with Regan Grace going in at the corner.

However, the ‘try’ was referred upstairs by on-field official Tom Grant with video referee Liam Moore awarding the try, despite the ball appearing to slip from Grace’s grasp.

Tommy Makinson’s missed conversion meant that Saints went into the break with a 16-6 lead as the Rhinos showed a good account of themselves in the first-half.

Konrad Hurrell had opened the scoring for the home side in the third minute before Alex Walmsley crossed to double the scores.

Harry Newman responded for the Rhinos with a superb weaving run to the line, but Grace’s controversial effort rounded up the half.
