Whitehaven have been dealt a major blow after a consortium interested in taking over the League 1 club have pulled out of the deal.
The Cumbrians announced earlier this month that they needed to raise £60k to see out the season and the consortium were ready to take over for next season if this was met.
But unfortunately for Carl Forster’s men, despite recent positivity thanks to the signing of ex-Super League prop Paul Wood as well as superb fundraising efforts, they look to have gone back to square one with this news.
It is reported by Tony Harrison of the News and Star that the consortium weren’t provided “certain details” by the club’s board.

Tough times continue for Haven and we wish them all the best in their fight for survival.
A statement from the club is expected in due course.
