Club releases statement against allegations of racist abuse

Hemel Stags have released a statement detailing the allegations of racist abuse aimed at a Bedford Tigers player last week.
Hemel played Bedford in a tasty fixture, only for one player to leave the field “in tears” according to one parent after being subject to alleged racist abuse.
The travelling players had already complained about the state of the ground which met them with no changing rooms and toilets anywhere near the pitch.
That pitch was barely marked with barely working floodlights and a situation with closed stands which meant penalties could not be kicked into touch, according to one unlucky viewer.
Another Twitter user has called on the governing body to try and stamp out such problems, with an investigation surely around the corner.
And, now, the Stags themselves have released a statement, saying: “Hemel Stags are deeply saddened to hear of the allegations of racial abuse that occurred during our fixture with Bedford Tigers on August 27th.
“Hemel Stags have and will always actively promote rugby league as a game of equality. We continue to stand strong against racism and discrimination, and strive to continue to improve the game of rugby league.”
