Club could be set for civil war in chase of new head coach

Newcastle Knights are chasing Shane Flanagan, but current head coach Adam O’Brien is firmly opposed to such a move.

Knights CEO Phil Gardner apparently wants premiership-winning coach Flanagan, according to the Wide World of Sports, to help Newcastle rejuvenate their season.

O’Brien, however, has told Gardner that he doesn’t want to change the current set-up.

Flanagan is currently suspended from taking on a head coaching role until November 1, but he was on the Dragons’ coaching staff in 2020.
