Chris Satae ‘gutted’ with Hull FC

Chris Satae has revealed just how bitterly disappointed he was with his side’s poor showing towards the back end of the 2021 season and slammed the way Hull FC finished.

The Tongan prop forward swept up the Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year after an inspiring year for the Black & Whites.

Scoring four tries in all competitions this season, Satae also made over 1900 metres throughout the 2021 campaign, but it wasn’t all rainbows for the man mountain as he outlined that 2021 wasn’t good enough overall.

“I’m really honoured to have won the three awards, purely because it shows the respect my coach, my peers and the supporters have for me,” Satae told hullfc.com.

“But at the same time it has been tough given the way we ended the season. Maybe in a couple of weeks I can look back and really appreciate the awards – don’t get me wrong, I take real pride in winning them – but I’m still gutted with the way we finished the year.

“Looking back, I was probably at my best this year at the start of the summer. I feel like I was playing really well during that spell.

“The month break was really difficult for us as a group and myself personally. That took some coming back from.”
