Chris Kendall stripped of Super League game following Wigan-Saints derby

Referee Chris Kendall gives instructions during the game

Chris Kendall will not referee a Super League game this week following the fallout from the Wigan-St Helens derby a week ago.

In fact, Kendall will not even be a linesman for the next round of fixtures as he sits out the week completely.

There were a number of incidents in the Wigan-Saints crunch clash that stuck out, with the Warriors’ John Bateman being given a one-match ban for “foul and abusive language” towards Kendall in what had been a heated affair.

However, that ban has since been overturned with Bateman now free to play against Leeds tonight.

The Warriors felt they had a strong case, with the club going to an independent panel hearing last night and Wigan subsequently winning the appeal.

Kendall has long been outspoken about the effects that abuse can have on a referee and it appears he has been kept out of the firing line following the derby game.
