Chris Chester bemoans refereeing standard

Wakefield head coach Chris Chester has hit out at some of the decisions made by referee Marcus Griffiths in Trinity’s defeat to Catalans last night.

The Dragons extended their lead at the top of the Super League table with a 40-20 win, but Chester believed that the hostile support at the Stade Gilbert Brutus went against his side.

“Looking at the stats tonight with the six agains and without having a go at the referee there is a really loud, vocal crowd here and I thought there were a few crowd calls tonight and maybe the referee needed to be a little bit stronger with some of those decisions,” Chester said.

“I will go through the right channels and chat with the right people in the morning.”

Wakefield currently sit 11th in the top-flight with just four wins from 16 games in 2021.
