Last week NRL signing Sam Lisone made his Leeds Rhinos debut against Leigh Leopards and backed that up today with an impressive display against Bradford Bulls which peaked with a brilliant run in the build up to Morgan Gannon’s try.

After the game Leeds assistant coach Chev Walker spoke to the press and expressed his excitement at what Lisone can do for the Rhinos and said he has seen some flashes of brilliance from the prop in training.

He said:

“Oh yeah he showed some nice touches again it is just timing and management with him. He’s got some skills and he will find his feet and get up to speed in no time and when he is ready.”

Despite being recently linked with a move back to the NRL this week, winger David Fusitu’a was key in convincing Lisone to come to Headingley.

Fusitu’a again missed out today and Walker explained his absence after the game after he also missed the clash against Leigh through illness.

Walker said:

“Again, it’s just a case of getting a bit of training under his belt. There’s no rush for him, or anyone to be playing.

“When the time is right he’ll play.

“He’s training and he’s getting what he needs. He’s fit. He’s had some unluckiness with his illness and the smart thing is rather than pushing him through is to use other players.

“He’ll come right. I don’t think anyone has come to full speed until Round Four and all the games early rounds show that so it is a case of managing that and building players into it.”
