Chester expects Salford star to play despite not being named in squad

Wakefield Trinity coach Chris Chester says he expects Salford forward Ben Murdoch-Masila to play tonight despite not being named in the Red Devils’ 19 man squad.

Wakefield are fourth in the table and will be aiming to maintain their place in the final semi-final spot while moving to within a point of Hull FC, who were beaten by Leeds Rhinos last night.

Murdoch-Masila has been one of the best forwards in Super League this season and the Wakefield boss thinks he will feature.

“We expect Murdoch-Masila to play even though he is not named in the squad,” he told Radio Yorkshire.

“They are a very hard team to beat on their own patch. We are planning for the best possible Salford, the one that took the field at the start of the season.”

Wakefield have selected new signing Tyler Randell in their 19 man squad and the 25-year-old has been praised by his new coach, although he has admitted it will take a bit of time for the hooker to adapt.

“He brings a toughness. He has great deception at dummy half and he has settled in really well,” Chester added.

“He will add a different dimension to this team. It will take some time but we have got a good kid.”
