Channel 4 reveals viewing figures for Wigan Warriors’ win over Salford Red Devils

The figures for Channel 4’s coverage of Wigan Warriors’ win over Salford Red Devils have been revealed.

Broadcast live on Channel 4 from 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon, the fixture kicked off at 1pm with Wigan eventually running out 30-24 winners.

It was a terrific clash with the Warriors’ Jai Field proving the difference yet again after posting a superb effort late on in the game to win it.

The scores had been locked at 24-24 before the Australian fullback flew through a broken Salford line as the Warriors kept up the pressure on St Helens at the top of the Super League table.

After being contacted by Serious About Rugby League, Channel 4 has revealed that the viewing figures took on an average of 213,000 which equated to 3.2% of the TV share with the peak at 270,000.

Channel 4 has registered some seriously impressive numbers in the past with the opening game of the broadcasting’s 2022 season featuring Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves bringing in three-quarters of a million viewers.

The average viewing figure is lower than the last time Channel 4 was on air for a Super League fixture when Warrington Wolves took on Wakefield Trinity – with a peak of 297,000 and a 3.4% of the coverage at that time – but the average for Wigan and Salford was considerably higher.

This reveals that though there fewer at its peak, more of those that tuned in, did so for all of the game.
