Channel 4 was treated to a rugby league first at the weekend, with the sport gaining coverage on terrestrial television for the first time.

Among those involved in the set-up was comedian Adam Hills whose punditry skills struck a chord with the viewing audience.

Alongside Hills were Sam Tomkins, Danika Priim and Leon Pryce whilst Mark Wilson and Kyle Amor earned considerable praise for their commentary during Leeds Rhinos’ clash with Warrington Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

Although he probably didn’t need to justify his comments, Hills was criticised by a few on Twitter following a comment about “see you next week in lovely Hull.”

Many Hull believed Hills was being sarcastic, but the Warrington Physical Disability Rugby League captain took to the social media site to clarify what he meant.

For those who thought I was being sarcastic when I said “see you next week in lovely Hull”, I wasn’t. I was standing in the wind and rain, it was 7 degrees, and I had lost feeling in my remaining digits. I was genuinely looking forward to being in “lovely Hull”. @SuperLeague

Hills and his excellent team will return for Saturday afternoon’s clash between Hull FC and St Helens.
