Championship starlet set for huge Super League move due to money demand says coach

As we have seen with the success of Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and St Helens in the past or the climbing up the table from Leigh Leopards and Hull FC in recent times, halfbacks are key.

Another example would be the form of Warrington Wolves star George Williams and the transformative impact his improved form has had on the club in 2023.

So, young halfbacks are like gold dust across the British game. That is why Lewis Dodd at St Helens and Mikey Lewis at Hull KR are tied down at their clubs.

It is why Leeds Rhinos are being careful with the development of Jack Sinfield and why Newcastle Knights swooped for Huddersfield Giants star Will Pryce.

However, the Giants were proactive and signed Bradford Bulls youngster George Flanagan JR for next year.

On signing, he said: “I’m very excited to be joining the Giants, I can’t wait to get started and to sign for such a big club like Huddersfield, it’s a massive move for me and my family.

“A big part of signing for the giants was Ian Watson and speaking to some of the lads who are at the Giants really made me want to choose this as my next club. The history of the Giants and the squad they are building for the future was also a big pull for me when signing here.

“Having spoke with Richard and Ian and seeing what they want to do with the club really made me want to commit my future here at the Giants.

“The chance to work with Ian Watson is massive for me, He is one of the best in the coaches in the game and for a young lad like me I feel I can learn a lot from him and he will make me a better player.”

But it seems he won’t be the only impressive young Bradford spine player to leave with The Game Caller reporting on social media that several Super League clubs are set to move for young Myles Lawford with the club set to accept a £40,000 offer for the halfback.

However, in an interesting twist a former Bulls coach Leigh Beattie has taken to Twitter to say that the only reason he is leaving is because the Bulls want or need the money:

“Myles wanted to stay at the club but there is 40 thousand reason why he won’t be at the club next year.”
