Championship sides make another change to amended fixture

It was announced earlier this month that Featherstone Rovers and Newcastle Thunder would be reversing their home and away fixtures on account of a major football event, as reported here.

That has now changed again with Thunder taking to Twitter to announce that the game at Kingston Park will be moved forwards.

Whilst it’s a second change in just under a fortnight fans won’t have as much of a change to their calendar with the game being brought forward from Saturday 9th September to the Friday evening on the 8th.

Consequent to Newcastle United making the Carabao Cup semi-final the initial fixtures were flipped.

Thunder saw their home game, initially February 26th, switched to ensure as many Magpies and Thunder fans won’t have to decide over a potential Wembley or Championship game clash.

Both sides took to Twitter to announce the change.

Thunder announced on their site in a statement the reason for the one day amendment.

“Due to turnaround timings for Featherstone and their trip to Toulouse the following week, as well as working to the availability of Kingston Park, Newcastle Thunder will now host Featherstone Rovers on Friday, September 8 with the game kicking off at 8pm.

“We’re grateful for Featherstone for their cooperation on this and look forward to welcome them to Thunder HQ later on in the year.”
