Championship side’s academy set to host international trials

It’s been announced that Bradford Bulls’ academy facilities will be the location of trials for the U16s and U18s Scottish Rugby League team.

The Scottish Rugby League governing body tweeted the news earlier that on 26th February they’ll be running an open trial and development day at the Championship side’s historic academy.

Honing in on the focus of ‘representing your roots’ the Scottish team of coaches will head to Bradford to scout some talent for the future with both Under 16 and 18 open trials being held.

At the recent World Cup the Scottish team lost all three of their group games with a shock defeat to Italy opening up their tournament before an 84-0 drubbing against Australia ended their hopes of making the knockout stages.

The campaign to attract young talent from the Yorkshire are and the heartlands isn’t necessarily new with former Scotland captain and most capped player, Danny Brough, having been born in Yorkshire but choosing to represent the country of his grandfathers birth.

Among the 2021 World Cup squad many players born outside of Scotland featured including Ryan Brierley, the Salford Red Devils playmaker who was born in Preston.
