Newcastle Thunder are set to go full-time in 2022 as they attempt to earn promotion to Super League.
The club has worked wonders in recent seasons in the north east, with owner Mick Hogan part of a serious revolution to increase participation in the football-mad region.
Newcastle earned promotion to the Championship at the end of 2020 and then managed to finish 11th in their maiden season in the second tier.
Thunder earned seven wins from 20 games, winning five more games than relegated Swinton Lions.
