Halifax Panthers only have a 24-man strong squad for the new season.
Though coach Simon Grix said his squad only has a few niggle at present, it is key they keep fit to ensure the Panthers don’t have the wrong kind of selection headaches.
Grix subsequently revealed that they are looking for further signings to add further depth to their squad though he believes it could be a struggle as he said there is a limited player pool at present.
He said on Facebook:
“We’re still looking but there’s not a great player pool of depth in Super League and Championship across the country so it is difficult so that means when someone becomes available they have a suitor and sometimes multiple which is why it is so tough and comes down to things like money.
“We’re definitely going to keep an eye on it and have some conversations throughout January.
“I’m sure people will come available, they always do but it is just a case of whether we can move for them.”
The Panthers have pulled off a major signing in the shape of World Cup star Jake Maizen who scored a hat-trick in their first game of the tournament against Scotland.
