Championship club snap up ex-Warrington Wolves youngster for 2026

Warrington Wolves

Championship club Widnes Vikings have announced the signing of former Warrington Wolves youngster Frank Sergent.

The winger has penned a one-year deal with the Vikings after leaving the Halliwell Jones Stadium without making a competitive first-team appearance for the Wolves.

Sergent is just 19 years of age but he did pick up some vital senior experience with Swinton Lions this year. He made 15 appearances in League One and got over the line for five tries along the way.

As such, he’ll be keen to build on that experience in the second tier next season by forcing his way into head coach Allan Coleman’s thinking at the DCBL Stadium.

In penning a deal with the Vikings, he becomes the club’s seventh signing for the 2026 season, following the additions of Jordan Abdull, Nathan Connell, Sam Wilde, Jack Bibby, Kieran Taylor and Jay Chapelhow.

“I’m really happy to be here,” Sergent said after joining the Vikings. “I’ve had some great chats with Allan, and it made me quickly realise I want to be part of this team and what they’re doing moving forward.

“Obviously, a lot of last season I played at Swinton, so I’m hoping to build on that experience.

“Playing in this league is really physical, so bringing the ball out of the back field is really important, and hopefully I can bring some speed and agility to the team.”

Head coach Coleman added: “We need to focus on developing and nurturing young talent and Frank is certainly a talented player.

“He showed last year on loan at Swinton how dangerous he can be in this league, so he really excites us.”
