Overseas forward Brenden Santi has committed himself to another season with Championship outfit York Knights, the club have confirmed. Santi has signed a contract extension that will see him enter a second full season with the Knights after catching the eye at the LNER Community Stadium last season.

The 31-year-old made 24 appearances for York last season, scoring three tries as the club made it to the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs. Having joined the club in 2023 from Keighley Cougars, he has now made 38 appearances for the Knights, with prop becoming something of a favourite in North Yorkshire.

Santi is an Italy international and has 15 caps to his name, while he also made 11 appearances for Wests Tigers in the NRL earlier in his career. Since leaving the Tigers he has represented Townsville Blackhawks, Wyong Roos, Toulouse Olympique, Newcastle Thunder, Keighley and York.

“I’m really happy Brenden’s agreed to go again with York Knights,” head coach Mark Applegarth told the York Knights website.

“I thought he was an excellent member of the pack last year. He offered not only a high level of rugby but some great leadership and he’ll be another important voice for some of the younger members of the squad.

“I love everything he’s about. He plays very tough and puts his body on the line every time he crosses that whitewash so I’m delighted he’s on board for 2025.”

Santi becomes the latest to agrees an extension with the Knights following on from the likes of Brad Ward, Ukuma Ta’ai and Conor Fitzsimmons.
