Championship outfit Featherstone Roves have announced the signing of former Hull FC man Carlos Tuimavave. The centre has penned a two-year deal with the West Yorkshire outfit in a move that ensures he will be with the club until the end of the 2025 season at least.
Tuimavave spent nine seasons with Hull, winning the Challenge Cup on two occasions and racking up 182 appearances for the club in that time. He scored 58 tries in black and white and his record in west Hull will ensure he will go down as one of the club’s greatest ever overseas signings.
However, his contract expired at the end of the 2024 Super League season and he will now step down to the Championship to turn out for James Ford’s side. Tuimavave wasn’t short of suitors and Serious About RL understands the 32-year-old turned down Super League approaches in order to stay local to the Yorkshire area.
“I can’t wait to get started at Featherstone, as soon as I heard they were interested I jumped at the chance to sign,” ex-Hull FC man Tuimavave told the Featherstone website.
“Rovers is an impressive club with bags of ambition and I’m looking forward to adding a bit of experience to the side to help some of the younger squad members as well.
“I loved my time in Hull but the opportunity to take on a new challenge with Fev was too good to refuse and I’m looking forward to getting started with a big pre-season.”
Head coach Ford added: “It’s a huge coup to bring someone of Carlos’ stature to the club.
“As soon as we heard he’d become available, we were immediately interested in bringing him in and for him to join us for the next two years is really exciting.
“He’s one of the most professional and experienced outside backs in the game, with a proven track record of performing in big games and that will be invaluable for our club, both on an off the field, we’re delighted to bring him on board.”
