Championship club York Knights have signed a 21-year-old outside-back who began his career in the Wakefield Trinity youth system.
Mac Walsh spent last season on the books at Toulouse Olympique, playing twice for the French side making seven appearances on loan with Whitehaven.
He was coached by Knights boss Mark Applegarth in Wakefield’s academy and later had spells with Newcastle Thunder – featuring nine times – and Hunslet, who he left without playing a game after securing a trial with Toulouse.
“I’m really glad we’ve got Mac on board,” Applegarth told the club website about his latest recruit ahead of the new Championship season. “It gives us a bit more depth in those wing and centre positions.
“He’s a kid I’ve coached before at Wakefield in the academy. Things didn’t go his way last year, he didn’t play too much.
“He’s looking for an opportunity, so if he trains hard and puts his best foot forward he’ll definitely get that at York. I’m glad we’ve got him on board and I’m looking forward to linking up with him again.”
