Championship club sack head coach

Swinton Lions have parted company with Stuart Littler.

Littler has been at Heywood Road for six years – first as a player in 2015 and 2016 and then as head coach from 2017 onwards.

Swinton released this statement confirming the news:

“The Board wishes to acknowledge that Stuart Littler has been an outstanding servant to Swinton Lions over the past 6 years. He is a top-quality coach and a thoroughly decent human being. This season Stuart has had to contend with an unprecedented injury list, but we are in a results driven business, and the Board felt that the time had come for a fresh approach.

“We are sure that all Swinton fans will join us in thanking Stuart for his service, professionalism and work ethic, as we wish him nothing but the best in the future.

“Assistant Coach Allan Coleman has agreed take over first team affairs until the end of the 2021 season, at which point the Head Coach position will be reviewed.”

Swinton are currently bottom of the Championship with no wins from 14 games.
