Salford Red Devils duo Ryan Brierley and Jack Ormondroyd have both joined Championship side Oldham. The pair have signed two and a half year deals, ensuring they will remain with the Roughyeds until the end of the 2027 season.
Brierley and Ormondroyd have been heavily involved under Paul Rowley this season, but as the club’s financial difficulties continue, they have become the latest to leave the club. They follow Chris Hill and Chris Hankinson out of the exit door with the pair joining Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos respectively earlier this week.
Brierley had been with Salford since 2021 and made 95 appearances for the club. He scored 35 tries in that time and enjoyed a strong working partnership with the likes of Marc Sneyd, with the pair combining to help Salford finish fourth last season.
Ormondroyd made 111 appearances for the Red Devils in six seasons with the club. The pair will now spent the remainder of the season with Oldham, who are currently fourth in the Championship and they look set to make their debuts this weekend at home to Barrow Raiders.

“It has been awful at Salford, for families and friends it has been horrendous,” Brierley told Oldham about the situation at the Salford Community Stadium.
“I just say a massive thanks to Oldham for helping Salford out, for helping me out and doing things the right way. Being professional from the start – Oldham with Bill and Mike have done things the right way and that is important to me.”
Ormondroyd added: “I spoke to Mike (Ford) and Bill (Quinn) and I know Longy (Sean Long) from before as well as some of the players, so I am really excited to get going.
“I have loved my time at Salford but this year has been tough so I am looking forward to coming here and being competitive again.
“The ambition here at Oldham is brilliant and the lads have said nothing but good things. There is a great fan base and I am looking forward to getting stuck into the playoffs and seeing where we can go.”
On the signings chairman Bill Quinn, outlined the club’s ambition, with Super League very much the ambition for the Greater Manchester outfit.
“These calibre of signings show what this club is all about,” he said.
“We are putting on something here at Oldham. We are not just going to knock on the door of Super League, we are going to kick on the door.”
