Swinton Lions have announced the signing of Joseph ”Joey” Romeo.
Joey was initially in the youth set up at North Sydney Bears, but has more recently played at a couple of other clubs in the greater Sydney region – Cabramatta and the Campbelltown City Kangaroos.
On this impressive signing from down under, The Lions’ Head Coach, Allan Coleman, said: “Joseph is a player on a mission and he has come to us highly recommended. We have reviewed footage of his performances in detail, and he’s clearly a clever and skilful individual who thinks outside of the box. He prefers full-back, but can pretty much cover the whole back-line.
“Having spoken to Joseph, he is a player with huge ambition who wants reach the top of the game. He certainly has bags of talent and I can’t wait to see him in our famous blue and white jersey.”
The club have done a lot of impressive business as they return to the Championship in 2023.
The big question is: will this be enough to secure their survival and could they even push on further and challenge for a play-off spot following the example set by Barrow Raiders in 2022?
On this front, time will certainly tell.
