Championship and League One null and void

The Championship and League One seasons will not continue in 2020, meaning they have been declared null and void.

They say the main reason is the recent government announcement that crowds will not be able to return to grounds until October.

However, clubs from both competitions will be invited to compete in a competition celebrating the sport’s 125th anniversary in the autumn. The prize pot will be £250,000 thanks to donations from Super League clubs.

Entry to the competition is voluntary, and on the condition clubs can meet the necessary protocols and medical standards.

Also, there will be no promotion or relegation from the Super League this season. This is for reasons of “integrity, player welfare, and to protect the solvency of clubs.”

This is following the news earlier today, that Toronto Wolfpack would be withdrawing from the competition.
