Challenge Cup tie hit by lengthy delay after serious injury

Although there is a lot of focus on the men’s Challenge Cup this week, but we shouldn’t forget the women’s Challenge Cup.

A great tournament which has delivered some great occasions especially in the finals.

2023 is a milestone season for the women’s Challenge Cup with the final taking place at Wembley for the first time ever in a triple header with the men’s decider and the 1895 Cup Final.

However, as the road to Wembley hots up for the women as well as the men, one Challenge Cup clash has been sullied by what appears to be a serious injury,

The Oulton Raidettes are clashing with Bradford Bulls today but when the Bulls led 14-0 the game was stopped for a lengthy period after a serious injury to an Oulton player.

They were sadly stretchered off the field and we wish them well.

The player remains unnamed.

The Bulls confirmed the incident:

“Unfortunately we’ve got a lengthy stoppage in play due to a serious injury to one of the Oulton Raidettes players who has had to be stretchered from the field. We would like to wish her the best of luck and hopefully a very speedy recovery.”

The Raidettes’ game against Leeds Rhinos in the competition was forfeited due to an inability to field a team.
