Challenge Cup squads confirmed as overseas man set for debut, Huddersfield Giants issues laid bare and Warrington Wolves make changes

Huddersfield Giants

The fourth round of the Challenge Cup is upon us and most teams have now confirmed their team news as they look to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the competition.

The squads for Friday night’s games were confirmed yesterday, but six games will be played on Saturday afternoon and we’ve rounded up all the team news so far.

We’ll start with Castleford Tigers, who have named off-season overseas recruit Semi Valemei in a squad for the first time, with the outside back set to make his debut at Wheldon Road against St Helens. Brad Singleton is the man to drop out for Ryan Carr’s side.

Huddersfield Giants have been forced into a number of changes with Matty English and George Flanagan among those to pick up injuries last time out.

They’ve called on a number of reserve players with Alex Chippendale and Roman Sharma among those included in a 19-man squad to face holders Hull KR. Connor Wrench still isn’t considered match fit for the Giants, though.

Rovers have named a strong squad, but Willie Peters can be expected to give at least a couple of fringe players a chance to impress, with the likes of Bill Leyland, Jack Charles and Tom Whitehead included. There’s no Karl Lawton, though, due to suspension.

Hull FC have named an unchanged squad to face Leigh, while the Leopards have named Matt Davis in their squad, despite Lam admitting he was struggling with concussion symptoms earlier this week.

Warrington Wolves boss Sam Burgess looks set to hand a number of youngsters opportunities this week against Goole Vikings at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Paul Rowley has made four changes to his St Helens squad, Jacob Host, Nene Macdonald, George Delaney and Joe Shorrocks dropping out through either injury or suspension. Aganatius Paasi, Alfie Sinclair, Chris Matagi and Jake Burns come in.

Below are all the squads to be confirmed at the time of writing.
