Challenge Cup results as one Super League side crashes out and Round Four line-up confirmed

Challenge Cup Round Three is completed with a shock Super League exit whilst details are now confirmed for the 16 teams in the Round Four draw.

That Round Four draw will take place next Saturday at half-time of the Super League game between St Helens and Salford Red Devils. The game is aired on the BBC from 5:15 pm with a 5:30 kick-off meaning the draw will likely be conducted leading up to 6:30 pm.

We know the 16 teams who will be in the draw after the final seven ties of Round Three took place on Sunday with a major upset thrown up as Castleford Tigers became the only Super League side to get knocked out.

The first nine ties on Friday and Saturday saw Super League teams progress but Castleford Tigers fell short at a damp and cold Odsal with Bradford Bulls defeating them 18-16.

It then looked like Huddersfield Giants could befall the same fate when they went down early on against Hunslet, however, Luke Robinson’s side came back and went on to win 34-6 with Adam Swift scoring a brace in his first competitive game since returning from injury.

Salford Red Devils were the other Super League side in action and Paul Rowley’s men won 46-10 despite being unable to name their full squad on account of cap limits.

As such players like Marc Sneyd, Tim Lafai and Kallum Watkins missed out but the club believe those limits will be lifted in time for their Super League clash with Saints following their successful takeover.

Sunday’s other four games involved lower league sides with Ince Rose Bridge the only amateur team to be in action. They lost 68-0 to Featherstone Rovers whilst fellow Championship hopefuls Oldham defeated Barrow Raiders 42-4 in a strong eight-try showing.

Elsewhere, Championship side Widnes Vikings staved off an upset by beating North Wales Crusaders 26-20 whilst Batley Bulldogs defeated rivals Dewsbury 24-4.

Five teams from outside Super League will be in next weekend’s Round Four draw with those eight fixtures to be played on the weekend of March 14th through 16th.
