Leeds Rhinos, Hull FC and St Helens are among the clubs who now know who they will be facing in the third round of the Challenge Cup. At the time of writing eight teams have progressed from the second round, including three amateur teams, who will now host Super League opposition.
Wests Warriors can look forward to a date with Leeds Rhinos next month after they saw off the Army 36-18 in Acton. The London-based outfit had to dig deep against the side from the armed forces but they have now sealed their spot in a dream tie.
The same can be said for those at West Hull, who edged out Hunslet ARLFC to set up a third round tie with 13-time winners St Helens, while York Acorn came from behind to beat Oulton Raiders. The York side will now host Hull FC in the next round in a tie that promises to be one of the greatest dates in the club’s history.
Goole Vikings made history in the capital as they beat London Broncos 17-10 to win their first ever competitive game and book a tie with Wakefield Trinity.
Hunslet will face Super League opposition in the next round of the Cup too, after beating Lock Lane 50-10. They’ll face off against Huddersfield Giants for a spot in the fourth round. Whitehaven beat Swinton Lions, too, with Warrington Wolves waiting for them in the next round.
Featherstone Rovers notched up 88 points against Waterhead Warriors to progress, while Dewsbury Rams got the better of Dewsbury Moor. However, both clubs are yet to discover their third round fate, with 12 second round results still to be confirmed this weekend.
