Challenge Cup latest as games rearranged and broadcast picks made

Challenge Cup trophy

London Broncos have seen their Challenge Cup second round tie selected to be shown live on BBC Sport. The Broncos host Goole Vikings in what will be the League One side’s first ever competitive run out, on Saturday January 25, with that game kicking off at 12.30pm.

As such rugby league fans will be able to watch as the Broncos get their year underway following their relegation from Super League last time around. The game will be played at Rosslyn Park, with the Vikings looking to cause a huge upset in their first Challenge Cup game.

The tie is just one of several intriguing clashes that will take place in the second round of the Cup. Unfortunately, though, due to adverse weather conditions just three first round ties took place over the weekend.

Siddal, who are coached by Jake Connor, edged out Hammersmith Hills Hoists 18-4 to set up a clash with Midlands Hurricanes, while Wests Warriors and Blackbrook also secured progression beating Eastern Rhinos and Aberavon Fighting Irish respectively.

Given the postponements, the remaining first round round ties will be played this weekend, with matches being split over Saturday and Sunday.

BBC Sport will be showing Waterhead Warriors against Leigh Miners Rangers on iPlayer and the red button on January 18, with that one kicking off at 12.30.

The draw for the third round will also take place this week with Super League teams entering the competition. Given the postponements, it promises to be slightly convoluted, with so many teams still active in the competition. That draw takes place on Tuesday evening at 6.30pm.
