The Challenge Cup quarter-finals are complete and we now know the four teams who are just 80 minutes away from Wembley.
Catalans Dragons and Leigh Leopards were the first clubs to seal their spot in the final four as they saw off Salford Red Devils and Wakefield Trinity respectively on Friday night. That was followed by a relatively one-sided Hull derby as Hull KR overpowered Hull FC at the MKM Stadium.
Warrington Wolves were the last side to seal their spot in the next round with a win over St Helens. That set up a semi-final clash with Leigh Leopards, while Hull KR will meet Catalans Dragons in the other game, with both to be played at a neutral venue.
The ties didn’t come without their injury concerns, though, with a raft of players picking up injuries over the last few days. Salford saw Tiaki Chan and Nathan Connell pick up issues in the south of France, while Nick Cotric and Sam Tomkins sustained injuries, too, in what was a costly night for both sides.
Oliver Russell broke his hand in Wakefield Trinity’s defeat, while Matty Russell suffered a rib injury. Mikey Lewis left the field in the opening quarter of the game on Saturday, with the KR playmaker picking up what Willie Peters made out to be an unusual groin injury, while Hull FC were left scrambling in the back-row as Jordan Lane broke his arm and Ed Chamberlain suffered a knee issue.
Warrington Wolves’ Paul Vaughan broke his finger in the Cup win over St Helens, while Paul Wellens’ side lost Jake Wingfield and Mark Percival to head knocks.
