Challenge Cup glory? – Leeds Rhinos’ New Year’s Resolution

The new year is just days away and with it will come a new Super League season just seven weeks into the beginning of the latest chapter of human history.

A new year is a time when everyone looks to make a new start and make a change as they begin a new year.

This is why we get New Year’s Resolutions every year from so many people.

This desire for a new start shouldn’t be restricted to people though and could very well apply to Super League clubs.

So, what should Leeds Rhinos’ resolution be going into 2023?

Leeds are an in an interesting time in their rebuild. In Rohan Smith’s first step of the rebuild, they remarkably made the Grand Final.

However, some of the players who were key to their success last year have left with Smith bringing down the average of the squad with some exciting young signings which bodes well for the future.

But what about the present? In 2023, Leeds need to show that they’re still in the mix even though it would be difficult to expect them to win the Grand Final next term.

However, winning, and winning silverware is a habit and one that Leeds have had over the last 20 years and one that they need to keep if they are going to dominate Super League again as these young players develop over the next 5-10 years.

So, Leeds should be aiming to win the Challenge Cup in 2023 and based on the success Smith had in knockout rugby in 2022, this is very achievable.
