Challenge Cup fourth round tie moved due to stadium clash

Challenge Cup

The Challenge Cup fourth round clash between Leigh Leopards and Hull FC has been rearranged, the two clubs have confirmed.

The Super League pair have been drawn to play each other at Leigh Sports Village in what is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing ties of the round. The game was originally set to take place on Friday, March 13, with the Black and Whites set to make the journey across the Pennines for the night game.

However, due to logistical reasons relating to the venue, with Manchester United U21s set to take on Southampton the same evening, the match could not go ahead on the announced date.

As such, Leigh will now host Hull on Saturday, March 14, at 3pm, with to game being one of six Cup ties taking place on that day.

That means Hull will have a nine-day turnaround to prepare for the clash after their Thursday night game at Wakefield Trinity, while Leigh will have eight days to get ready.

The two sides are among 13 Super League sides remaining in the competition with every top flight team involved easing through their third round ties.

Wakefield Trinity host Leeds Rhinos at Belle Vue on the Friday in a game that will be shown live on BBC iPlayer. That game will be played at the same time as Wigan Warriors v Bradford Bulls, which promises to be an intriguing one, particularly with the way Bradford have started the campaign.

York Knights take on Keighley Cougars at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday lunchtime before Hull KR travel to Huddersfield Giants, Goole Vikings take on Warrington Wolves and Oldham make the journey to Catalans Dragons. Castleford Tigers and St Helens will wrap up the round on Saturday evening when the pair meet at Wheldon Road.
